Fatoba Mourns Demise Of Prominent Ado Chief, Eyeigba

The Honourable  member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1,  Hon. Olusola Steve Fatoba has mourned the demise of Ado-Ekiti prominent Chief and  foremost  accountant Chief(Mrs) Abike Sonoiki, the Eiyegba of Ado-Ekiti who gave up the ghost on Thursday, 15th July, 2021. In a statement in Abuja, he described Eiyegba as a character personified, an  intellectual, a caring mother or Aunt who had meritoriously and selflessly served Ekiti State in various capacities as former SSG and Commissioner. According to the lawmaker, Eiyegba would be sorely missed for her wise counsel and motherly role.  Hon. Fatoba prayed that God would grant her eternal rest.

When we launched Livestock247.com (Nigeria’s 1st Online Livestock Platform) in 2018, we knew that technology had a role to play in solving the many challenges in the ecosystem. We experienced and witnessed so many pain points shared by all stakeholders in the value chain.  One that stood out was the issue of cash transactions at rural livestock markets.  In case you don't know, livestock trading is a multi-billion Naira business taking place on weekly basis in various locations in Nigeria. (Mostly in the northern part). Rural livestock farmers and traders normally take their livestock to local markets to sell, and they always prefer cash for many reasons. With the upsurge in criminal activities in northern Nigeria, these livestock markets became soft spots for insurgents, rural bandits, and kidnappers. The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has called for international support to ramp up development efforts in the Niger Basin area which is currently home to more than 160 million people who depend on the River for their livelihoods.   Buhari said this in Abuja on Thursday while declaring open the virtual 12th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Niger Basin Authority.
