Kashamu laid To Rest At Ijebu Igbo

The remains of the late lawmaker, Senator Buruji Kashamu have been buried in Ogun State according to Islamic rites.

Sympathisers and loyalists throng Buruji Kashamu's Ijebu-Igbo home for the burial earlier today.

According to reports Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun had earlier visited the late politician’s home on Sunday.

In a statement yesterday, the governor described Kashamu’s death as a devastating national loss.

The governor also described Kashamu as a reputable philanthropist in Ogun State.

The remains of the late lawmaker reportedly arrived from Lagos on Saturday night in Ogun for burial.

Kashamu died on Saturday, August 8, 2020, from coronavirus complications at the age of 62.

The late politician, who represented Ogun East Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019 in the eighth assembly, died at the First Cardiology Consultant in Ikoyi.

Coronavirus: Ekiti Places Ban On Traditional Festivals In Towns And Villages

Ekiti Government on Saturday directed traditional rulers in towns and villages to either postpone or cancel for the rest of the year, all pending local festivals in their domains to curb the spread of Coronavirus. The State Coordinator of COVID-19 Task Force Response Team, Prof Bolaji Aluko, made the announcement in a statement in Ado Ekiti. He disclosed that Ekiti State had cumulatively recorded 78 positive Coronavirus cases, with 29 active, 2 deaths, and 47 discharged, warning that the cases can rise dramatically if public assemblies continued unchecked. He said as the state was gradually entering the full blown season of Traditional Festival, therefore, travels from within Ekiti State and various parts of Nigeria by indigenes and visitors to the various towns and villages during this period of the pandemic, had started to occur. FUOYE Classes, Labs Shut indefinitely By Ekiti Govt. Over Non-Compliance With COVID-19 Safety Rules

The Ekiti State COVID-19 Taskforce has shut physical classes and laboratories of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Oye Local Government Area of the state over noncompliance with guidelines to contain the spread of the virus. The indefinite closure was attributed to the filling up of the institution’s lecture halls and laboratories by students of the school who were neither wearing their face masks nor observed physical distancing. The students were also spotted in clusters while others milled around on the campus with no regard to safety guidelines.
