TASK FORCE TO ENFORCE COVID-19 PREVENTION REGULATIONS IN SCHOOLS IN EKITI, AS EKITI TRAINS 2000 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS ON COVID-19 PROTOCOLS.

A task force set up by the Ekiti State Government to enforce the COVID-19 regulations put in place by government in schools in the state would swing into action immediately primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State resume from the COVID-19  break next Monday.

The State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Dr(Mrs) Adebimpe Aderiye made this known in Ado-Ekiti at a 2-day training programme organised  for over 2000  head teachers and  assistant headteachers  of public primary schools as well as some selected teachers from junior secondary schools in the state.

Aderiye who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education ,Science and Technology, Mr James Owolabi said severe sanctions await any head teacher whose school is found to be violating  the   COVID -19 prevention regulations  when schools resume in  the state.

While stressing that the administration of Dr John Kayode Fayemi, has continued to take proactive steps to curtail the spread of the deadly virus in the state, the Commisioner urged the Headteachers and other participants at the training workshop holding simultaneously in three different venues in the state capital to pay rapt attention to resource persons expected to expose them  to precautionary measures specifically designed to curb the spread of Covid - 19 in schools.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof Akinwumi Femi Sunday explained that the Universal Basic Education Commision in conjunction with the State Universal Basic Education Board organised the 2-Day workshop as part of proactive steps to create and maintain a safe environment without compromising the well-being of pupils, teachers and parents after the lockdown.  

He commended  Governor John Kayode Fayemi for fumigating all public schools and providing, infrared thermometers, Veronica buckets, disinfectants, hand washing soaps and alcohol based sanitizers, spraying pumps as well as herbicides for all public schools preparatory for school resumption in the state.

Prof Akinwumi said that apart from listening attentively to the resource persons at workshop, the Headteachers and the other school administrators at the forum were expected to strictly enforce the regulations and   ensure that all the COVID-19 materials to be distributed to them are put to optimal use in various schools upon resumption.

In their goodwill messages, the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani who spoke through the Director of Nursing Services of State Hospitals Management Board, Mrs Foluke Olaiya and the State UBEC Coordinator, Mr Joshua Arema said the workshop which is designed to expose school managers to precautionary measures against the COVID-19 pandemic was timely  in order to prevent a spike in the state COVID-19 figures after school resumption.

Fatoba Mourns Demise Of Prominent Ado Chief, Eyeigba

Olusola Steve Fatoba has mourned the demise of Ado-Ekiti prominent Chief and  foremost  accountant Chief(Mrs) Abike Sonoiki, the Eiyegba of Ado-Ekiti who gave up the ghost on Thursday, 15th July, 2021. Gulak's Death: Buhari Vows to deploy all resources' to capture culprits
