ASUU, FG Face off: "My Own Children Too Are At Home Due To ASUU Strike"— Ngige
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has made it known that his own children are affected by the ASUU strike going on in the country.
He made this revelation while speaking about the month-long ASUU strike on Politics Today on Channels TV.
When asked by the anchor if the federal government is prepared for the consequence of the imminent agitation of students union in the country, the minister said when they get to the bridge, they will cross it.
He said: "When we get to the bridge we will cross it. You know, my own children are also at home due to the strike. My children attend federal universities. Three of them. One is in Lagos university. Another is in Akwa."
Meanwhile, the minister said negotiation still the best way to solve the problem between the university union and the federal government. He noted that the feuding bodies will meet again next week for another round of meeting.
The perennial strike that usually cripples the university system has entered its 8th months as there's no hope at sight for the helpless students.
