Excitement As Bag Of Rice Drops To N19,000 In Ekiti

Good news for people of Ekiti State as traders of rice have agreed to adjust the prices of bags of rice from N34,000 to between N19,000 and N23,000.

This is coming barely three days after the leadership of the drivers’ unions in the state slashes transportation fare by almost 20% from what it used to be.

The decision of the rice traders was during a meeting with representatives of government who includes the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Engagement and Enlightenment, Chief Tosin Ajisafe-Aluko, the Governors aide on mobilization Prince Tunji Ogunlola and Mrs Tola Ajayi-Odoko.

Speaking with newsmen, the leadership of the rice trades said grade A rice would sell between N22,500 and N23,000 while grade B and C will sell between N22,000 and N19,000.

In an interview the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Community Engagement and Enlightenment, Chief  Tosin Ajisafe-Aluko thanked the traders for showing understanding while she also appreciated Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his various plans to check inflation and other activities that could compound the hardship of people of the state.
