Publisher of Leadership newspaper, Nda-Isaiah Is Dead
The news has been broken of the death of a veteran journalist and publisher of Leadership newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah.
The leadership newpaper publisher's death was confirmed yesterday, December 12, 2020 by multiple sources including his newspaper.
He was said to have died “after a very brief illness” at the age of 58.
Nda-Isaiah's death was furthered confirmed by a family member.
The source added that the late publisher was sick “but very briefly. ”
According to the source Nda-Isaiah was at the inaugural meeting of National Economy’s Board of Economists at the corporate head office of the media organisation in his office on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
One of his employees disclosed that the late publisher did not show any sign of sickness when he appeared at the office on Thursday.
The news of his death was said to have been announced to his employees on the company’s staff WhatsApp.
An editor with the Leadership newspaper said, “ He did not show any sign of sickness. Definitely, it was not coronavirus that killed him.
Maybe it was cardiac arrest. It is indeed a sad day for us.”
He added that the family and the company would issue a statement to announce the death of the former pharmacist.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of the late publisher and media fraternity in Nigeria.
Describing the deceased as "a friend and ally" , the president in a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu , said Nigeria has lost "a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria.”
The statement reads, " President @MBuhari has expressed shock and sadness at the death of Publisher of @LeadershipNGA Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, a man he describes as “a friend and ally.
"The President condoles with the media fraternity, the Nda-Isaiah family, friends and associates of the deceased, saying “the country has lost a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria.
“He will be sorely missed. This is a massive fish gone out of the media ocean,” President Buhari further says of the pharmacist, renowned columnist, and one time presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)."
Until his death, he was chairman of the Leadership Group and Editor-in-Chief of Leadership newspapers.
He was also a member of Vienna-based International Press Institute; a member of the World Association of Newspapers, Paris, France; and a member of the Institute of Directors.
