Court adjourns Case Of Dismissed Unmarried Police woman


The Federal High Court, adjourn sitting at Ado Ekiti adjourned till 14th of April, 2021 the suit instituted by the Attorney-General of  Ekiti State, Olawale Fapohunda against the dismissal of Miss Olajide Omolola, an unmarried policewoman and an indigene of Ekiti State from the services of the Nigeria Police Force on the ground of getting pregnant before marriage.
 
The Ekiti State Attorney-General, Olawale Fapohunda had instituted a  suit against the Inspector General of Police seeking an order of court declaring Section 127 of the Police Act and Regulations which provides for the discharge from the Police Force, women Police officers who become pregnant while unmarried unconstitutional.

The suit is also seeking an order nullifying Section 127 of the Police Act and Regulations as well as an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Inspector General of Police, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police and the Police Service Commission from implementing the regulation.

The adjournment was at the instance of the Counsel to the Respondents, F.D. Falade Esq. (CSP/ O.C Legal Department) who prayed the Court for time to enable him to study and respond to the Counter Affidavit of the Applicants against his Preliminary Objection.
