League Of Imams President, Kewulere Denies Endorsing Tinubu For President


The attention of the President General of them League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello has been drawn to an online news report with the headline, "Ekiti Muslim Family Endorses SWAGA" which has been trending on many online platforms. 

There is no iota of truth in all the statements credited to the revered Sheikh Kewulere Bello in the online report by the writer which all remain the figment of his (the writer's) imagination. 

In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Secretary to Sheikh Kewulere Bello, Alhaji Salmon Adedipe disowned the online report which quoted Sheikh Bello as having endorsed the candidacy of  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the 2023 Presidential race describing it as a fallacy! 

Adedipe explained that while it is true that the South West Agenda for 2023 (SWAGA) group led by Chief Anthony Adeniyi visited the President General, League of Imams and Alfas just as many groups have visited the cleric and many will still do, the statements credited to him were lies from the pit of hell. 

What actually transpired was that the SWAGA group came on advocacy visit and presented gifts to the League of Imams and Alfas.  

One of the Imams present at the occasion was directed by  Sheikh Kewulere to receive the gifts from the group on behalf of League of Imams. 

Sheikh Kewulere thereafter thanked the SWAGA group for the gift and prayed for their safe return to their abode. There was neither a mention of voting nor  adopting any aspirant not to talk of enjoining Muslims to endorse any aspirant for the 2023 presidential race.

Sheikh Bello who is a religious leader and spiritual father of all cannot be partisan to have openly endorsed any candidate and was therefore embarrassed to say the least, since the fake report has been circulating on the social media. 

For the avoidance of doubt, Sheikh Bello holds Asiwaju Tinubu in high esteem as a leader in Yoruba land and Nigeria but this has not given any mischief maker the latitude to attribute to the cleric statements he never made! 

This clarification is necessary to clear the air and warn desperate  politicians not to drag the name of our revered cleric into the murky waters of politics. 

Sheikh Bello will continue to play his role as spiritual leader to all and will not be dragged into politics.

Fatoba Mourns Demise Of Prominent Ado Chief, Eyeigba

Olusola Steve Fatoba has mourned the demise of Ado-Ekiti prominent Chief and  foremost  accountant Chief(Mrs) Abike Sonoiki, the Eiyegba of Ado-Ekiti who gave up the ghost on Thursday, 15th July, 2021. Gulak's Death: Buhari Vows to deploy all resources' to capture culprits
